The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily janitorial operations, ensuring cleaning services are performed according to company standards, customer requirements, and safety regulations per scope of contract. This position supervises janitorial staff, conducts quality inspections, maintains documentation, and coordinates weekly and monthly cleaning programs to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Staff Supervision
• Supervise, train, and support janitorial employees.
• Assign daily work schedules and cleaning tasks.
• Monitor employee performance and productivity.
• Ensure proper use of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
• Address employee concerns and provide coaching as needed.
Daily Operations
• Conduct daily walkthroughs and inspections of assigned facilities.
• Ensure all routine cleaning tasks are completed according to established standards for the scope of contract.
• Respond promptly to customer requests and service issues.
• Monitor inventory levels and request supplies as needed.
• Verify proper safety procedures and compliance with company policies.
• Daily Paperwork and Documentation
• Complete daily inspection reports and cleaning logs.
• Maintain employee attendance records and timesheets.
• Document work orders, maintenance requests, and corrective actions.
• Record supply usage and inventory updates.
• Prepare and submit daily activity reports to management.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, safety concerns, and customer feedback.
Weekly Monitoring and Quality Control
• Conduct weekly quality assurance inspections of all assigned areas.
• Review completed cleaning schedules and task checklists.
• Evaluate staff performance and identify training opportunities.
• Monitor equipment condition and schedule repairs or maintenance as needed.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and contract standards.
Monthly Monitoring and Facility Assessments
• Perform comprehensive monthly facility cleanings
• Review overall cleaning performance and customer satisfaction.
• Audit cleaning procedures and update schedules as necessary.
• Develop action plans to address recurring deficiencies.
Safety Responsibilities
• Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals.
• Investigate accidents and complete incident reports.
• Promote a safe work environment for employees and building occupants.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of janitorial or custodial experience.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
